Opteryx hat soeben die neuste Version seiner Avgani- (Iraq) und Afghan Village-Insel (Afghanistan) herausgebracht. Somit lauten die aktuellen Versionen Avgani 1.5 und Afghan Village 1.0!
Seiner eigenen Aussage nach hat sich "recht" viel geändert und es soll wohl vorerst seine letzte Version bleiben, allerdings sind die Inseln nun mit den neusten OPX-Objekten kompatibel.

CAT Afghanistan v1.0

This is OFP port with pretty much the same look as you found in original release. Terrain and objects have been edited to work in ArmA. This is a release with Agent Smith (AGS) permissions.

From OFP history, we can show that AGS did two releases for this island: CAT's Afghanistan Revisited and CAT's Afghanistan Revisited 1.2. Just a small nostalgy trip for some of us.

There are some issues like faulty geometry's on few models (one or two buildings you can walk through walls) and the usual OFP style forest block floating here and there (nothing we can do about it now). Also as tip; dont fly fast moving aircrafts with 10km viewdistances, situation like that is prone to CTDs. Other than that, there should not be major issues. Depending if people like this or not, I might put in some more time to it and fix/tweak issues.

This addon doesn't require any other addons to work, including Queens Gambit. You only need default ArmA v1.12 installed.

Sgt.Ace, oder nunmehr Acè, konnte es nicht lassen an seiner Lieblingsinsel zu basteln und veröffentlichte bereits gestern sein Everon in Version 2.0

Da es sich um einen kompletten Neubau handelt, lassen sich einige Neuheiten finden. Neben einer besseren SatMaske und verändertem GrassClutter, finden sich nun auch erstmal Weizenfelder auf Eden.

1. Further improvements on satellite map.
2. Eliminated another 30,000 trees. Frame rate continues to improve. (for me - I hope for you too)
3. Fixed several more ugly intersections.
4. Objects added: Additional road reflector posts, street lights in a few towns so far, miscellaneous objects.
5. More building height problems addressed.
6. Longitude/Latitude changed to make it compatible with BAS f (this change is not included in the readme file but the change is the in PBO).

1. Desaturated greens on satellite map and eliminated some of the whitest farm fields. I believe these white fields are ripe oats. The tan/brown fields are wheat.
2. Toned down the brightness of the quarry and the gravel pit.
3. Decreased the number of trees by 25,000 in the 2 woods in the center of the map and large portions (but not all) of the forests in the northwest corner. I have experienced improved frame rate. I plan to continue to thin out the forests.
4. Modifications to road network.
5. Cleaned up some road intersections. I am aware of others than need work.
6. Added road reflector posts on some of the roads. Unfortunately they are backwards from the actual German posts. Not much I can do about this.
7. Corrected building heights which where above or below grade (ie "floating" or "sunk")
Plus other miscellaneous corrections and improvements.

The list of changes below out line some of the changes I've made. But that doesn't cover the plant groups or masses of folige
in his pack as they are a bit dated for the new engine and the only changes made to them were to remove binarizing errors.

No p3ds have been removed or paths changed. This pack is will fully replace the original version

  • Rework of all visual LODS. Basicaly laying them out similar to BIS and removing the preload LOD (LOD 10.000 was a trick used
  • in OFP to load the textures ahead of time and create a smoother running when up close. Can now use frequent=1)
  • Rework of the GEO, FIRE, and VIEW LODs to better suit the respective tasks.
  • ie. Fire LOD = wooded material, View LOD = obscuring folige, and Geo LOD is weighted to allow trees to fall over
    (Big trees need a BIG hit however)
  • Included a Shadow 0 LOD for almost all trees and most plants and called on the 2nd or 3rd visual LOD as the shadow buffer.
  • If there was such a thing as unlimited time this could be taken further but what I've done is working well and I think its
    better than simply using the first visual LOD. Also provides a good range of shadowing levels via the video options.
  • Added various tree/bush classes in properties to many of the items
  • (the realy big trees did look a bit odd however with the degree of sway so left as just 'tree' )
  • 'keep height' is now used only on the base of big_tree1-7 and tree5 & all of tree6 and a few select ground covering plants.
  • So tree canopy no longer slopes with ground.
  • Added tree5_flat for purposes specific to the upcoming Australia Island (no 'keep height' )
  • Added tree5_nv, tree6_nv, and tree7_nv. exactly as tree5, tree6, and tree7 respectively but hanging vines have been removed
  • And various other fixes that showed up in the Binarize Log

Heute veröffentlichte das A.C.E.-Mod Team Version 1.07 ihrer Modifikation. Wie in den letzten Updates wurden wieder einige Probleme behoben, Kleinigkeiten hinzugefügt oder geändert. Beispielsweise wurde die Helikopterpanzerung verringert und Flares hinzugefügt, die man auch bei Tageslicht sehen kann. Desweiteren haben nun Zweibeine eine Funktion, indem man sie mit dem bereits bekannten "Waffe auflegen" im Liegen aufklappen kann und so nun zusätzliche Stabilität erhält.

High Definition Tropic Island (beta 1.0)

Finally, the beta is OUT!
Ok guys, let me explain the work and the effort me and Deanosbeano put in this island, and all the features it brings.
Well, I always thought that we could try to destroy environment in a bettere realistic way than ArmA uses for almost all the objects.
The idea was quite simple, but the creation took us some weeks... Apply RTMs to objects to animated them when destroyed.
Well, seems easy, but it's not.
Of course deanosBeano was already working on such thing, but after that day, we cooperated, and we made everything good!
Now this addon will be a mix of these new features, and of an intensive jungle atmosphere, which will bring you to play and play and play and play... :D

WARNING:
The island is full covered with large numbers of trees, palms and plants, so expect lag on mid-end computers.
To play with good FPS, you should add fog.

What causes lag is the large amount of models loaded, and the shadow. Textures and RVMATS are optimized to use the best shaders and to not create lag.

Vegetation textures have been taken from Crysis©, since it took ages to build all the RTMs and to insert them into ArmA.
