Installation instructions:
==========================

1. Following programs must have been installed on your Linux-box:
tar, gcc. Optional: md5sum (for setup integrity check)

1a. On some verions of Linux (this was reported for RedHat 9
and Gentoo linux 2.4.20) the NSCD deamon must be installed to
run ArmA server successfully. Caching of DNS would be sufficient.

2. Copy the whole "ArmA" directory from Windows
to some Linux-directory (ArmA). DON'T DO ANY DATA CONVERSIONS
(even "dos2unix" translation of text files is not necessary).
Example: you can use PKZIP (WinZip, PowerArchiver, etc.) on
Windows and "unzip" on Linux.
Don't use upper case letters in the ArmA directory name
(/home/bob/arma will be good, /home/bob/ArmA
may cause some troubles).
ArmA directory should contain subdirectories "Addons", "Bin",
"Campaigns", etc.

3. Copy the "server-x.xx.tar.gz" (x.xx is version number) file into
the ArmA directory. Unpack and install it with commands:

arma$ tar -xjf server-x.xx.tar.bz2
arma$ ./install

Watch the messages - they will inform you whether your installation
is successful.

4. Dedicated server can be started in foreground:

arma$ ./server

Or in background:

o$ nohup ./server > out.txt 2> err.txt &
[1] <pid>

5. Running server can be stopped by executing:

$ kill -s SIGINT <pid>

Where <pid> is process-id of mother server thread (printed out in
"nohup" command).

6. ArmA server has a feature: command-line parameter
"-pid=<pid_file>". It causes creation of <pid_file> with
PID of root ArmA process. If IP port specified in "-port=<nn>"
parameter is busy (in usage), ArmA will terminate immediately
and <pid_file> won't be written..

7. The "armaserver" script is provided for automatic server
start/restart/status query/etc. Please be sure to edit
CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS in lines 12 to 18 !
After this is done, install (hard-link?) the script into
"/etc/rc.d/init.d/armaserver" file. After that it can be managed
by "chkconfig" (see info/man).

Patch 1.12 Beta (International)

===HOW TO INSTALL THE BETA===
Run the patch exe to apply the patch setup automatically (you may be prompted to choose your exact version in some occasions).

It will install all beta content to a mod folder "Beta" and shortcut "Launch Arma Beta Patch" to your ArmA directory (default is C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA or C:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA).


===BATTLEYE===

This patch will automatically offer you to install anti cheating software for online games to your ARMA working folder. If you decide not to install Battleye, your patch still will be working but you may not be able to join game servers that will have installed Battleye software for increased anti cheating protection.

It will install all BattlEye content to a folder "BattlEye" (default is C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\BattlEye). If BattlEye was installed, it will be securing online sessions hosted on your server (requiring all clients to have BattlEye also installed) unless it is disabled in server config using line "battlEye = 0;"

NOTE: BattlEye itself will be run from ARMA's application data folder (default is C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA\BattlEye) to have write access in order to be able to download/install updates and/or create logs and other BE-related files.

====HOW TO UNINSTALL BATTLEYE====

There's an uninstall application exe UnInstallBE.exe installed in the BattlEye installation folder that allows you to remove BattlEye from ARMA.




===HOW TO UNINSTALL THE BETA===

There's an uninstall application exe Uninstall_ARMAPatch_1_11_beta.exe included in the patch archive that allows you to remove the beta folder and associated shortcut from you game directory.

===HOW TO RUN THE BETA===

You can still run your existing ArmA normally by using the existing shortcuts and as far as we know, the beta shouldn't interfere with your game, so even after you installed the beta you should be able to install this beta patch normally.

To run the beta version, you need to start "Launch Arma Beta Patch" in your ArmA game directory.

If you need to run ArmA another way, and you still want to run the beta, make sure to start the ArmA.exe from the beta subfolder with working directory set to the normal ArmA directory and also with command line option -mod=beta

BattleEye for ArmA (public beta)

Das für den Patch 1.09 für Armed-Assault geplante AntiCheat-System "BattleEye", funktionierte mit der zuvor veröffentlichen Betaversion des Patches nicht.

Aus diesem Grund hat Maruk bereits gestern ein Installationspaket des AntiCheat-Systems in den BI-Foren bereitgestellt, mit dem die fehlenden Daten nachgereicht werden - für Server (vorerst nur Windows) und Client.

BIS hat zu Weihnachten einen neuen Beta Patch für Armed Assault veröffentlicht:

  1. significantly smoother gameplay on Northern part of Sahrani (up to 100% increase in frame rate depending on scene, video settings and graphics card)
  2. combat AI improvements
  3. voice over net and multiplayer related fixes and improvements
  4. new anti cheating methods in multiplayer (including optional www.BattlEye.com depending on server settings: if enabled, be server and be client dlls will be used and automatically updated to your computer)
  5. fixed compatibility problems caused by various copy protections used
  6. fog is rendered correctly on DX10 generation cards
  7. new scripting functions (string manipulation, multiplayer synchronization)

Patch 1.05 (International)

This file will update your Armed Assault installation to version 1.05

Note:
This patch contains a lot of changes and fixes. Installation will take a long while (could be more than 30 minutes on slower systems). Please do NOT restart your computer if you think the installation has failed. It will end automatically, just be patient.

Installation:
=============

1. Unpack the file
2. Run Arma_InternationalPatch_105.exe




The 1.05 patch is not compatible with previous versions. If you update your arma installation to 1.05 you can not join servers running any lower version.


Dedicated server file (win32):
=========================
The Windows Dedicated Server EXE is installed automatically with this patch.

Server admins should note that if they update the server to 1.05 they will have to reinstall any modified files.

===How to use STOVL===
Harrier (AV8B) can now perform Short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL).
It is controled with "Autohover ON/OFF" action.
When activated, there is no such autopilot for slowdown that helicopters use.
Thrust vector is just rotated downwards. Q/Z keys control only airplane speed.
There are no keys for control over vertical thrust,
so it is not possible to hover up/down like in helicopter.
Takeoff procedure:
- activate Autohover
- extend full flaps (2x crtl+K)
- gain some speed by holding Q for a short while and then release it.
- once in the air, retract gear (crtl+G)
- hold Q a little longer until you move fast enough
- retract flaps as you build more speed (2x ctrl+L)
- at aprox. 180kmph toggle autohover off and control flight as regular aircraft
Landing procedure:
- reduce speed and altitude same way as during conventional landing
- extend full flaps (2x crtl+K), drop gear (crtl+G)
- hold Z to reduce speed
- at aprox 180 kmph activate Autohover
- pitch nose up to reduce speed, check speed, height and flight path vector indicated on HUD
- hold Z for descent at aprox 2.5 m/s
- at touchdown toggle autohover off

Sara Lite - Insel aus der Demo

Southern Sahrani
Hierbei handelt es sich um die verkleinerte Version der Sahrani Insel welche der Demo von Armed Assault beiliegt.
Der nördliche Teil der Insel wurde hier einfach gelöscht, auch die Grenzstadt Corazol ist nur noch zur Hälfte vorhanden.

Man kann die Insel zu Testzwecken gebrauchen da die Ladezeiten wegen der kleineren Landmasse etwas kürzer sind.
Ebenso könnte sie eine geringfügig bessere Performance haben als das Original (jedoch nicht getestet).
